KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage all engine repair, overhaul, and maintenance jobs in the workshop
- Assign work to mechanics based on skill level and job complexity; monitor progress and ensure timely completion
- Perform and supervise complex engine jobs including engine overhaul, cylinder head repair, timing system replacement, and valve adjustment
- Diagnose mechanical faults accurately before starting work — no guesswork, no unnecessary part replacement
- Ensure all jobs are completed cleanly, correctly, and to manufacturer specifications
- Review completed work before vehicles are returned to customers; minimize repeat complaints by ensuring proper first-time repair
- Identify parts requirements in advance and coordinate with the parts team to avoid delays
- Maintain correct torque specifications, fluid types, and service intervals per vehicle manufacturer requirements
- Handle engine-related jobs on European vehicles (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Land Rover) and premium Japanese vehicles (Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi)
- Keep the mechanical bay organized, clean, and safe at all times
- Guide junior and senior mechanics in correct repair procedures and technical best practices
- Prepare accurate job cards and report job progress to workshop management
- Assist in pre-purchase vehicle inspections covering mechanical condition assessment
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Deep knowledge of petrol and diesel engine systems — 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder, V8, and turbocharged engines
- Engine overhaul, cylinder head gasket replacement, valve seat grinding, piston ring replacement
- Timing belt and timing chain replacement (including complex systems on BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz)
- Engine oil, cooling system, fuel system, and lubrication system repair and servicing
- Transmission service — automatic, manual, DSG/S-Tronic, and CVT (basic coordination with specialists)
- Suspension, steering, and brake system inspection and repair
- Turbocharger and supercharger basic service and replacement
- Pre-purchase mechanical inspection for European and Japanese cars
- Reading and interpreting manufacturer service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins
- Understanding of OBD fault codes and ability to interpret basic scan tool data
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 8–12 years of hands-on mechanical experience, with at least 3–4 years in a supervisory or foreman role
- Proven experience working on premium European vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, and Land Rover
- Experience with modern Japanese vehicles including Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi
- Background in a professional or authorized workshop environment preferred
TOOLS / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
- Hydraulic lift / 2-post and 4-post vehicle lifts
- Engine crane and engine stand
- Torque wrench set (digital and manual)
- Timing tool kits for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Toyota, and Honda engines
- Compression tester, leak-down tester, vacuum gauge
- OBD diagnostic scan tool (basic live data reading)
- Cylinder head pressure tester, valve spring compressor
- Hydraulic press, bearing puller sets
- Coolant flush machine, oil suction pump
- Standard professional hand tool set (spanners, sockets, impact tools)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering, or equivalent technical training with verifiable work experience. SSC or HSC with strong hands-on background will also be considered.

- Candidates with experience at authorized BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, or Audi dealership workshops in Bangladesh or abroad
- Strong team leadership and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a systematic and clean working approach
- Ability to read basic technical manuals and service bulletins (English)
- Calm under pressure; able to manage multiple jobs and technicians simultaneously
