KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out engine repair, servicing, and overhaul tasks as assigned by the Engine Foreman
- Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil change, filter replacement, fluid top-up, and service inspection
- Execute timing belt/chain replacement, cylinder head jobs, and engine gasket replacement as required
- Inspect and repair suspension components — shock absorbers, control arms, ball joints, bushings, and wheel bearings
- Perform brake system repair including pad and disc replacement, caliper overhaul, and brake fluid flush
- Service fuel systems — injector cleaning, fuel pump replacement, fuel filter service
- Carry out cooling system repair — thermostat, water pump, radiator, and hose replacement
- Diagnose mechanical problems accurately before starting work and avoid unnecessary part changes
- Complete all assigned jobs within the expected time, maintaining clean workmanship at all times
- Ensure vehicles are returned to customers free of repeat complaints by double-checking all work before handover
- Properly fill in job cards with work done, parts used, and any additional observations
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow workshop tool discipline
- Assist the Engine Foreman on complex jobs and provide guidance to junior mechanics where needed
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Engine servicing and repair — petrol and diesel, naturally aspirated and turbocharged
- Timing system repair (belt and chain) for European and Japanese engines
- Brake system — discs, pads, calipers, ABS reluctor rings, and master cylinder
- Suspension and steering — ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushes, wheel bearings, steering rack
- Fuel system — injector, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator
- Cooling system — water pump, thermostat, radiator, coolant flush
- Gearbox service (ATF/MTF fluid changes), driveshaft, and CV joint replacement
- Clutch replacement for manual transmission vehicles
- Engine and transmission oil service to manufacturer specifications
- Basic fault reading using OBD scan tools
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on mechanical workshop experience
- Proven experience working on European brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, or Volkswagen
- Experience with Japanese vehicles — Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Lexus, Mitsubishi — is required
- Prior experience in a professional workshop environment is strongly preferred
TOOLS / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
- 2-post hydraulic vehicle lift
- Torque wrench (digital and click-type)
- Timing tool kits for specific vehicle models
- Compression tester and cooling system pressure tester
- Brake caliper wind-back tool set
- Ball joint press, bearing puller, and hub removal tools
- OBD scan tool (basic fault reading)
- Oil suction pump and coolant flush machine
- Full professional hand tool set — sockets, spanners, screwdrivers, and impact tools
- Pneumatic tools — air ratchet, impact wrench
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering or equivalent technical certification. Candidates with strong hands-on experience but without formal certification will also be considered based on skill assessment.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Candidates from authorized or premium independent workshops in Dhaka
- Experience with premium European vehicles — especially BMWSeries, Mercedes C/E/S Class, Audi A4/A6/Q5, Land Rover Discovery/Range Rover
- Systematic working style — follows torque specs, uses correct tools, keeps workstation clean
- Honest and disciplined; does not cut corners or skip steps
- Willing to learn new models and keep technical skills updated
