Job Context

 
Agriculture officer is responsible for the daily planning, organization, supervision and administration of activities on farm estates.

Job Responsibilities

• Forward planning with Line Manager.
• Helping Line Manager in making policy decisions.
• Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Organizing sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products.
• Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records.
• Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers.
• Making and Ensuring work progresses satisfactorily.
• Prepare worker's monthly roster and overall worker management.
• Ensuring all kinds of Agricultural training for SPP's Beneficiaries.
• Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards.
• Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases.
• Ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
• Organizing maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery.
• Variations in workloads relate to seasonal demands - some unsociable hours may be necessary during busy periods (eg during harvesting or lambing) and officer will be expected to deal with emergencies.
• Look and research new initiatives to take SPP firm forward & more standardization.
• Proper care & use of SPP land & resources.
• Help Rehab to develop mother's Agriculture training successful.
• Any other job assigned by the Management.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture
• Diploma in Agriculture from a government institute will get preference
• Training/Trade Course: Training on fish farming,Training on livestock management

Experience Requirements

• 3 to 6 year(s)
• The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
  cash management, Computer skill, Management and Leadership, Office Management, Problem solving and analytical skill, Seed Production, Self motivated, Strong communication skills
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
  Agro based firms (incl. Agro Processing/Seed/GM), Fisheries, Livestock

Additional Requirements

• Age 32 to 40 years
• Both males and females are allowed to apply
• Having IGA training experience will add an advantage
