Job Title: Assistant Cutting Manager

Direct Reports to: Head of Production
Job Summary:
The Cutting Manager oversees all aspects of the cutting process, from reviewing cutting requirements to ensuring accurate and efficient material cutting as per production schedules. The role includes coordinating with the Planning Department, maintaining safety and quality standards, managing resources, and training staff as necessary to fulfill production requirements and optimize waste management
Key Responsibilities:
ERP-Based Responsibilities:
Order Management and Planning Coordination:
- Receive PO (Purchase Order) details from the Planning Department via ERP, and review cutting descriptions, requirements, and layouts based on buyer specifications.
- Collaborate with the Planning Department to align cutting requirements with production timelines and communicate necessary adjustments.
Material Allocation and Monitoring:
- Track fabric inventory and consumption through ERP systems to ensure sufficient material availability and efficient use of resources.
- Monitor cutting progress and report updates to the Planning Department to keep production aligned with demand.
Production Tracking and Reporting:
- Use ERP systems to log daily cutting operations, track productivity metrics, and ensure accurate, up-to-date records on materials used and tasks completed.
- Analyze cutting waste through ERP data to identify areas for improvement and report findings to management for ongoing optimization.
Non-ERP-Based Responsibilities:
Cutting Preparation and Execution:
- Review markers, fabrics, and layout details to determine precise measurements based on the buyer’s required style, size, and quantity of orders.
- Assign cutting tasks to machine operators, providing clear instructions on procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a strong emphasis on safety, enforcing safety protocols and ensuring the use of equipment like rotary cutters is consistent with safety regulations.
- Oversee the disposal of waste materials according to company policies and environmental regulations.
Quality Control and Precision:
- Emphasize accuracy in all cutting processes to maintain high standards and “do it right the first time.”
- Ensure all pieces are cut precisely according to specifications, with minimal waste and maximum efficiency.
Equipment Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- Ensure cutting boards are routinely cleaned and well-maintained.
- Conduct routine checks on rotary cutters and other cutting equipment to ensure they are in good working order and meet quality standards.
Training and Team Development:
- Provide training and guidance to new employees in the cutting department to help them develop the necessary skills and maintain safety standards.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration to optimize production efficiency and foster a positive working environment.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Review and follow written instructions on paper or computer screens, ensuring all documentation and instructions are accurately interpreted and implemented.
- Adhere to company guidelines on product specifications and quality requirements, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
