Job Description:

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. Through our work we assist people and societies in shaping their own future and improving living condition.

GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, textile and leather sector, biodiversity, as well as good governance, displacement, and migration. 

For the team of our “Socio-Economic Support for Host- and Displaced Communities in Cox’s Bazar, SHADE”, we seek applications for the position of “Knowledge Management Advisor”.

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
  • Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
  • Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
  • Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
  • Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
  • Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
  • Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks (Specific for Job Role)

1. Technical advisory, knowledge management and learning  

  • Develop knowledge products on project interventions with respect to GIZ Quality Assurance Standards: relevance, evidence-based, timely, authoritative, compelling, consistent, and influential.
  • Provide guidance to the team on how to collect practical and action-oriented knowledge, grounded in quantitative and qualitative evidence.
  • Generate information from MIS reports for translation into knowledge management products for various audiences such as donors, implementing partners, political partner, media, and for country office website.
  • Assist in organising public discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, op-eds, interviews, etc. about the specific intervention.
  • Provide guidance to implementing partners in line with GIZ Branding, Communications, and Visibility Guidelines

2. Project implementation

  • Design annual work plan on knowledge products for the project and share this with line manager and head of project and implement work plan accordingly
  • Provide all necessary support to ensure successful implementation of livelihoods and skills development programming for Host and Rohingya communities
  • Follow up on indicator progress and achievement and ensure quality data management for livelihoods and skills development related activities monitoring

3. Coordination, networking and partnership management

  • Maintains professional cooperation and communication with the GIZ Bangladesh country office and participates in operational level working groups
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders (NGOs, civil society groups, authorities, UN agencies, etc) in Cox’s Bazar.

4. Other duties/additional tasks

  • Perform any other jobs as requested and required by the line manager, AV or other project authority from time to time as and when required.

C. Required qualifications, competencies, and experience

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Social Science, Communication, Economics, Business Administration or in a related field

Professional experience

  • 5 years of occupational experience in a comparable field, preferably with Livelihood/ Economic Empowerment

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Knowledge of German Language is an asset
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment
  • Strong analytical and knowledge management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, good interpersonal and communication skills, fluency in English, ability to work in an intercultural environment, excellent networking skills
  • Strong organizational competence, administrative and event organization experience are a plus
  • Willingness to work in Cox’s Bazaar and visit project sites.
